What is solid recovered fuel (SRF)?

Solid recovered fuel includes waste that can be recovered for the production of renewable energy.

SRFs include non-hazardous dry waste that can be used for incineration in:

  • incineration plants for the production of electricity and steam,

  • industrial furnaces in cement works, blast furnaces, etc.,

  • boilers supplying heat networks.

This process can be used to recover waste that cannot be recycled and to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy mix.
