Energy recovery from waste consists in harnessing the energy produced when processing waste that can neither be recycled nor repurposed as a material.
The energy produced as a result can be used in the form of heat, electricity or fuel. Energy recovery can take a number of forms, depending on the type of waste being processed:
incineration;
solid recovered fuel (SRF) production.
Waste repurposed in this way becomes a renewable energy source and helps reduce the use of fossil fuels.
