What are CCUS solutions?

CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage) is a solution aimed at capturing, transporting, re-using or storing CO2 to speed up the decarbonisation of industry. This approach involves collecting CO₂ directly from its source, so that it can then be stored sustainably, or re-used in different applications (such as methanation).

As the ideal complementary solution for processing incompressible residual emissions, particularly in heavy industry, CCUS is also an appropriate transitional response where decarbonisation technologies either do not exist or are too costly. As such, it saves precious time in reducing emissions while we wait for the emergence of more sustainable solutions.
