Passed on 10 March 2023, the APER law (for Acceleration of the Production of Renewable Energies) has the development of renewable energy in France as its goal.
It aims to simplify and shorten administrative procedures associated with the introduction of sustainable energy projects, as a response to climate challenges and the nation’s energy transition ambitions.
Under the law, through discussion at the municipal council level, communes are invited to identify zones for the acceleration of renewable energy, meaning territories that are particularly suited to the establishment of energy production facilities using technologies such as photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind, biogas, or geothermal. To support local authorities in this exercise, the Ministry of Energy Transition, in partnership with CEREMA and IGN, has set up a mapping portal making it easier to define those zones.
Teréga’s commitments fit in perfectly with this drive. The Group is accelerating the rollout of its projects associated with renewable gases, adapting its infrastructures to facilitate their integration, and contributing to the organisation of a low-carbon energy sector. It also fits neatly into the national and European cooperation approach, with large-scale projects such as HySoW and H2med, supporting the energy transition and the territory’s energy sovereignty.
