Teréga reaffirms its fundamentals and resolutely turns to the energies of the future

In 2024, Teréga pursued its actions for industrial performance, and reached a new milestone in the implementation of its Gaïa 2035 strategic plan, including the development of the new energy industries. In the context of accelerating transition, the Group has consolidated its economic soundness, affirming its place as a central actor in energy sovereignty, in France and Europe alike.

2024’S RESULTS SUPPORT THE TRANSFORMATION OF TERÉGA’S MODEL

In 2024, Teréga’s results have remained strong, in a context increasingly marked by geopolitical tensions, strong demands for energy security, and the acceleration of the transition.

Teréga SA’s turnover amounted to €488m (excluding balancing and congestion). Net income grew by +9.3% to €106m, while investments reached a total of €154m, with one clear desire: to prepare the energy infrastructures of tomorrow today.

With a storage fill level of 98% at 1st November 2024, the trading of 100% of capacities via the auction mechanism, and a cross-border interconnection via Pirineos that remains as strategic as ever, Teréga has reaffirmed its decisive contribution to the energy equilibrium in France and across Europe.

The Group reached a symbolic milestone, with 11 methanisers connected to date, giving an installed capacity of 625 GWh/year. The IGR (Renewable Gas Indicator) in the Teréga zone reached an average of 4.1%, with peaks of 14.9%, above the national average. Since then, the first backflow station on the network, commissioned in 2025 at Auch, now allows the excess to be reinjected towards zones experiencing a shortfall.

Teréga’s decarbonisation pathway, aligned to the Paris Agreement, was reevaluated by Moody’s Net Zero Assessment (NZA). The 2030 target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions is -54% across scopes 1 and 2 compared to 2017, and -34% across scopes 1-2-3 compared to 2021.

GAÏA 2035: A ROADMAP TO MAKE TERÉGA A HUB FOCUSSED ON THE ENERGIES OF THE FUTURE

Launched in 2023, the Gaïa 2035 plan is entering a decisive phase. Its aim: to make Teréga a 100% decarbonised regional hub by 2050, capable of connecting the territorial channels to European energy flows.

A major strategic swing, supported by an investment effort valued at 1.5 billion euros between 2025 and 2035, to adapt networks and integrate green gases. In 2035, more than 50% of Teréga’s annual investment will be dedicated to new gases and decarbonisation.

In 2024, the major projects led by Teréga went through decisive stages, confirming its role as a key actor in the energy transition in France and in Europe.

  • H2med / BarMar, the undersea pipeline between Barcelona and Marseille, in which Teréga holds a 16.7% stake, has been recognised as a European Project of Common Interest (PCI) and now benefits from financial backing under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) scheme. The Call for Expression of Interest, finalised at the start of 2025, brought together 168 businesses and 528 projects, confirming the continental dynamics.

  • In the Far South West, Teréga is developing HySoW, a 650 km strategic hydrogen network, destined to link the regional industrial hubs to the ports and to Spain. With 500 GWh of storage between now and 2030 and confirmed potential as an exporter, it will support the low-carbon reindustrialisation of the territories. The project has applied for the PCI label, with a decision due in Autumn 2025.

  • Teréga is also leading a CO₂ transport and storage project in the South West, aimed at capturing 6 Mt/year by 2035. This project is based on a unique source of biogenic CO2, a number of e-fuels projects and storage capacity estimated at 750 Mt. The project has been recognised as a European PCI.

With Gaïa 2035, Teréga is asserting its position as one of the structural pillars of the low-carbon energy system in France.

“In a world where energy redefines economic balances, Teréga has a strategic role to play. With Gaïa 2035, we are building a resilient, decarbonised energy model, anchored in the realities of the territories, and essential to the energy transition in France and in Europe. We are reaffirming our strengths and accelerating our building of the future in energy.”
