A multi-energy Smart Grid. What is that?

The term Smart Grid refers to a network which incorporates new technologies to optimise energy efficiency.

Its new capabilities enable it to manage data to optimise flows between producer and consumer, thus avoiding losses. A multi-energy Smart Grid should allow flows from different energy sources (gas, electricity and heat) to be interconnected to increase energy efficiency on a larger scale, such as for a whole town or city.
