Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées: the tournament moves up a level

The Palais des Sports in Pau will host the Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées from 27 February to 5 March 2023. For its fifth edition, the tournament continues to grow and is upgraded to the ATP Challenger 125 category.

Created in 2019, the Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées is an international men’s tennis tournament that welcomes players ranking from 50 th in the world.

The tournament is now designated as an ATP Challenger 125, the second most prestigious level of the ATP Challenger circuit. This circuit is a must for up-and-coming young players but also for experienced players who are making their return to the top level.

The first four winners of the Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées are proof of this: Alexander Bublik (2019), now ranked in the world’s top 40, Ernests Gulbis (2020), former world no. 10, Radu Albot (2021), former world no. 39, and Quentin Halys (2022), now 64 th player in the world.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (former no.5), Gilles Simon (former no.6) and Lucas Pouille (former no.10), or the young Danish Holger Rune (current no.11 and recent winner of the Rolex Paris Masters) are all great tennis players who have competed in the Teréga Open Pau-Pyrénées. There is no doubt that the tournament’s new status will continue to attract renowned players.
