The 1st list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) under revised TEN-E officially published

After four months of examination, the list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PIM) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on April 08, 2024. This event marks a decisive step, enabling the BarMar and CelZa components of the H2med project to benefit from the advantages associated with CIP status.

These projects were selected by the European Commission in November 2023, following a political agreement ratified at the December 2022 European Council, to create a green energy corridor linking Portugal, Spain and France to the rest of the EU.

The H2med project aims to establish a hydrogen interconnection between Portugal and Spain (CelZa) and a maritime pipeline linking Spain to France (BarMar) to transport renewable hydrogen to Central Europe. Inclusion on the CIP list enables the selected projects to benefit from simplified administrative procedures and a more efficient environmental assessment, as well as funding opportunities for the studies required prior to the investment decisions scheduled for 2026.

The BarMar and CelZa projects will be eligible to participate in the next call for European funding (CEF Energie 2024). For further information, visit the project website: www.h2medproject.com
